Keeping Safe

Reception girls wrapped up warm and playing in the snowSafe and Secure Environment

The safety of the children is our highest priority, and because they are so young, we need to be particularly vigilant.  We will therefore:

  • Only unlock gates to the school car park at drop off/pick up times, keeping the site secure.
  • Only allow your child to go home with you, unless we have received your advance permission (preferably in writing) that she may be collected by another adult.
  • Never allow a child to leave the premises unsupervised.  There is always at least one adult in charge of the outside play area – which is fenced off from the rest of the school.
  • Ask all visitors to identify themselves and to state their business before we give them access to the premises.  Visitors sign in, and wear security badges throughout their visit.  They sign out on leaving.
  • Register all pupils at the start of the morning and afternoon sessions.
  • Check all pupils out as they are collected by their parents or carers.
  • Ensure that only parents or carers have the security access code to the Nursery building.

We practice rigorously safe recruitment procedures.
Please see our recruitment policy on the school website.

Health and Safety

We update and review our risk assessments on classrooms and other indoor areas, the outdoor play space and all the equipment and toys used by the children every year.  This ensures that everything with which your child may come into contact has been assessed and that potential hazards are kept to a minimum.

Please refer to our Health and Safety policy.
