Scholarships and Bursaries in the Sixth Form
Sixth Form Scholarships and Bursaries are intended to attract and reward girls who are capable of high levels of achievement and effort in their chosen field. The Sixth Form Scholarship Examinations for external candidates are held in February.
Governors', Ogden and Flexlife Scholarships
Our Governors' Scholarships (all subjects), Ogden Scholarship (Physics and Maths A level essential) and Flexlife Scholarship (Maths and either Chemistry, Physics or Geography A level essential) are worth 100% of fees per annum, i.e. they offer entirely free places at the High School. They are awarded for two years to very able girls joining the High School for the Sixth Form whose parents could not otherwise afford our tuition fees.
Academic Scholarships
There are also a number of Academic Scholarships, worth up to 50% of fees per annum. These are awarded each year to external candidates on the basis of results and potential shown in the Sixth Form Scholarship Examinations, which are held in February. Girls sit papers in two chosen subjects. These scholarships are awarded for two years and may be supplemented in appropriate cases by a Governors' Bursary (see below) up to a usual maximum of 50% fee remission.
Music Scholarships
Music Scholarships, including The Phyllis Cleaver Music Scholarship (worth 20% of fees), and Music Exhibitions (worth 10% of fees), are available to suitable internal and external Sixth Form applicants. Girls should be Grade 6 standard, or higher, in at least one instrument or voice. These scholarships are awarded for two years and may be supplemented in appropriate cases by a Governors' Bursary (see below) up to a usual maximum of 50% fee remission.
Drama, Performing Arts, Art and Sport Scholarships
These scholarships are available to internal and external applicants with talent and experience in these areas. All of these scholarships are worth not less than £500 per annum for two years and may be supplemented in appropriate cases by a Governors' Bursary (see below) up to a usual maximum of 50% fee remission.
Governors' Bursaries
A number of Governors' Bursaries are available. Bursaries are usually worth up to 50% of the current fees. These are based on a means tested form and awarded to parents of girls who meet our entry criteria but cannot afford full fees. Bursaries are reviewed annually.
Clerical Bursaries
Daughters of clergy receive an automatic 10% fee remission which may be supplemented in appropriate cases by a Governors' Bursary (see above) up to a usual maximum of 50% fee remission.
