There is a wealth of dramatic potential in Junior House. Many girls enjoy acting and so the activities of Drama Club are open to all at KS2 and are popular and frequently oversubscribed.

Drama can build confidence and helps the girls to learn to speak clearly and express their ideas in an interesting and engaging manner. Learning is important, but in an ‘After School activity’ our main purpose is to have fun! Each session begins with a lighthearted ‘warm-up’ designed to relax and re-focus the girls’ attention, followed by activities ranging from mime to improvised dialogue.

We work individually, in pairs and in small groups dramatising scenes e.g. from familiar nursery rhymes or traditional stories, and ‘hot seating’ storybook characters or impersonating famous celebrities.

Everyone is actively involved both as a performer and a spectator and is encouraged to perform their sketches to the rest of the group. As you can imagine, we enjoy a lot of laughter!
