Holy Island
Year 5 travel to Holy Island in May each year for their annual residential trip. The girls visit many of the island’s attractions, including Lindisfarne Priory, Holy Island Castle and St Mary’s Church. They also develop their fieldwork skills and have the chance to study nature on the beach and around the island. It is a fun trip and, for many of the girls, their first chance to stay away from home with their friends. At night, the girls play fun games and there is even a ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ show on the last night. The girls enjoy a boat trip around the Farne Islands before fish and chips and then the journey home.
The tidal island provides a safe environment to both experience topic work and develop social skills, and is a good preparation for the Year 6 outward bound course at Weardale.
