Key Stage 1
In Key Stage 1 we endeavour to create an environment in which girls can blossom and thrive. We encourage and build upon their self-confidence, independence and responsibility in all activities, from unpacking their bags in the morning and making choices at lunchtime, to accessing the right equipment to support their learning.
We follow a topic-based approach to our planning, encouraging the girls to make connections between different areas of learning and having a lot of fun in the process. Basic skills are taught in numeracy and literacy lessons, following The Primary National Strategies. In addition, all girls learn French, the emphasis being on developing language skills through games and songs.
The girls all have the opportunity to take part in extra-curricular tap dancing and ballet lessons, and can be members of the Infant Choir. From Year 2 girls can also participate in karate lessons.
