Day Trips
One of the most memorable aspects of a child’s time in school is her participation in trips. Junior House girls enjoy a great variety of educational visits that are designed to supplement and enrich their classroom learning.
Day trips start in Reception, when the girls are taken out of school to visit a local Chinese restaurant to sample the food of that country. They continue throughout the next six years. Venues include museums, wildlife centres, theatres, historic monuments and places of worship.
Junior House girls at Durham High School get two opportunities to enjoy and benefit from Residential experiences.
In Year 5, they spend four days in north Northumberland, exploring the history and geography of the area and studying coastal habitats.
In Year 6, they spend five days at an outdoor pursuits centre in Weardale, enjoying canoeing, rock climbing and archery alongside other activities.
