Over the first three years students are taken through a journey of experience that explores the visual language of Colour, Line, Tone, Texture, Shape, Form and Surface Pattern. We explore art through themed projects in drawing, painting and sculpture which run the length of a term. Girls build on familiar techniques and traditional creative methods but also challenge themselves to widen their skills by investigating some of the very exciting opportunities that new technology presents.
In Year 7 there is an emphasis on observational work which leads in Year 8 to the development of imaginative and expressive dimensions. By Year 9 we encourage girls to work more decisively and independently, in preparation for the confident, personal responses they will make in their GCSE and A level courses.
