This course combines the excitement of modern textile techniques with a firm foundation in drawing and an appreciation of traditional methods.
Throughout Year 10, students are guided through assignments, gaining experience of a wide range of processes and techniques. They learn how to design using conventional materials and methods, but will be encouraged to experiment and develop, with the freedom to select the medium most appropriate to a particular idea.
Coursework includes research, supporting studies, personal responses and evidence of visits to see original artwork. They use drawing and painting, photographs and ICT to express their ideas; sketchbooks document all their investigations, observations, planning and progress towards the finished piece.
During Year 11 students are encouraged to work more independently, as their confidence grows. Their work is assessed by a final exhibition, which includes all preparatory work, sketchbooks or worksheets for the controlled test and 3 finished pieces of coursework.
