In Years 10 and 11 ICT is taught on a modular basis alongside the PHSE syllabus. We offer the BCS Level 2 Certificate for IT Users.
The qualification is made up of five units.
A. Word Processing - ECDL Module 3
B. Spreadsheets - ECDL Module 4
C. Database - ECDL Module 5
D. Presentation - ECDL Module 6
E. Using IT
Unit E - Using IT requires the candidate to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a series of theoretical elements such as legal issues associated with computing, health and safety and good practice. Additionally the candidate will be required to demonstrate their understanding of integration between computer applications and the relevance of each to everyday tasks. This unit is assessed using a multiple-choice test in a similar way to Module 1. Please note that the pass rate for Unit E is 80%, whereas the pass rate for all other modules is 75%.
If pupils cmplete the Level 2 certificate then they can go on to completing the full ECDL (European Computer Driving License) qualification.
