In years 7 and 8 pupils are taught in forms and are organised into sets according to ability from Year 9 onwards. In the course of Year 9 they decide on their GCSE options and one modern foreign language is compulsory. This can be either French or German. It is, of course,  possible to study both these languages at GCSE.

The course-book for Key stage 3 is Encore Tricolore and pupils are encouraged to subscribe to the Mary Glasgow foreign language magazines which are an excellent additional resource.
