RE at Key Stage 3

Religious Education is studied throughout the school, and many opt to take Religious Studies at GCSE or A-Level.

The three specialist teachers bring a wide range of learning activities to the classroom and ensure that the subject is beneficial to all girls both as an academic discipline and as an opportunity to develop their spiritual, moral and cultural awareness.

Lessons emphasise the two key attainment targets of Religious Education – learning about religion and learning from religion.  The six major world faiths – Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism are studied and girls are given the opportunity to apply the wisdom of these religions to their own lives.  Creativity plays an important part in the subject and girls are encouraged to express themselves through a wide range of media from art to drama to dance.

Philosophical and moral issues are introduced early on so that girls can use the transferable thinking skills in all subjects and in wider aspects of life.
