Design Department
Durham High School Design Department comprises three spacious well-lit studios, which overlook the school nature reserve. Each is fully equipped with excellent facilities to promote research and visual experimentation. In the first three years in the Design Department, we offer 3 very different creative opportunities for every individual student to explore her potential.
Specialist teachers in Fine Art, Design Technology and Textiles encourage each girl to learn through practical lessons in a wide variety of media and to learn about artists and designers and their work.
The environment of the school is visually enriched by the many colourful displays in the corridors produced by the Design Department. The highlight is our annual exhibition, showcasing the talented GCSE and A level students’ work in all three studios.
