History Trips
We run a number of different trips, and try and take all Year groups out at some stage in the school year.
In the academic year 2009-2010 there will be the following visits and events:
- Year 7 – Fountains Abbey
- Year 8 – Slavery Seminar
- Year 9 – Durham Light Infantry Museum
- Year 10 – Thackray Medical Museum
- Year 11 - Finchale Priory
- Year 11 – GCSE History Seminar
- Year 12/13 – New York and Washington DC
- Year 12/13 – The National Archives
We also have a regular programme of outside speakers who come to speak to girls on issues related to History.
In 2009-10 our ‘star’ speaker will be Tracy Chevalier, best-selling author of ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’. Tracy is coming to talk to our Sixth-form girls about the research involved in writing her novel based on the women’s suffrage movement – ‘Fallen Angels’.
