Year 10 GCSE: AQA Music Syllabus

During Year 10 the GCSE course focuses on:

  • Developing general musicianship skills and knowledge.
  • Increasing skill and technique through composition assignments in a range of styles.
  • Exploring the musical styles and techniques of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic periods and also of various non-western musical styles.

Year 11 GCSE: AQA Music Syllabus

During Year 11 the GCSE course focuses on:

  • Developing general musicianship skills and knowledge in preparation for the listening examination
  • Composing two pieces for GCSE assessment
  • Preparing and recording a solo and an ensemble performance.
