Sixth Form Girls

Further Mathematics

(8 lessons per week)

For the most able and those with a passion for mathematics there is the option of Further Mathematics. For a full A Level six additional modules must be taken, however with the recent changes to the syllabus it is now possible to obtain an AS qualification by taking an additional 3 modules.

Typically for girls taking the full A2 they will study Decision 1 and 2 and Mechanics 1 in Year 12, followed by Further Pure 1 and 2 and Mechanics 2 in Year 13. There is some flexibility however, so it is possible that a different combination of modules would be taught depending on the needs and interests of the girls. For those wishing to obtain an AS qualification they would typically sit Decision 1 and 2 and Mechanics 1 in Year 12 as before but would take Further Pure 1 in Year 13 instead of Statistics 2.
