AQA MUSIC, UNITS 1, 2 & 3

The AS course focuses on:

• The detailed study of three set works, currently J S Bach’s 'Brandenburg Concerto no.2', Haydn’s 'String Quartet op.76 no.2' and three songs by Schubert
• The study of requiem masses 1870-2000
• Composing two pieces for AS assessment
• Preparing and recording 5-10 minutes of ensemble performances

A2 (Upper 6th)

AQA MUSIC, UNITS 4, 5 & 6

The A2 course focuses on:

• The detailed study of one set work, currently Stravinsky’s 'Firebird'
• Developing listening and appraising skills, working with music of the 20th and 21st centuries in a variety of styles and traditions
• Composing one piece, which links with a report investigating musical links between two compositions chosen by the student
• Preparing a solo recital of 7-10 minutes
