Durham High School returns to Gala Durham in 2023 for its annual musical performance and we are delighted to be staging School of Rock, a vibrant, energetic and heart-warming musical that has just finished showing on the West End.
Based on the hit film, this hilarious musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, helping her rediscover the wild child within.
Featuring 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber and all the original songs from the movie, this high-octane smash delivers face-melting guitar riffs and touching romance in equally awesome doses.
There will be four performances across three days:
- Thursday 2 March 2023 at 7.30pm
- Friday 3 March 2023 at 7.30pm
- Saturday 4 March 2023 at 2.30pm
- Saturday 4 March at 7.30pm
Tickets are £15 for adults and £12 for concessions, with a £48 family ticket also available.
Tickets are available to purchase now on the Gala Durham website.
(Due to licensing restrictions, the Gala cannot advertise the name of the show).
