We take seriously our responsibility to look outwards and girls regularly take part in charity events from sponsored walks and bake-offs in Junior House, to the Children in Need Bin Bag Challenge in Senior House.
The Sixth Form are fully involved too: the Charities Prefects lead the Charities Committee and several Sixth Formers each year raise funds for the orphans and young mothers they meet during their visit to Sri Lanka.
The choice of charities we support belongs to the girls who think carefully about how best to support an international, national and local charity each year. At Durham High, being charitable is never only about raising money: girls sign petitions, collect materials and serve in charity shops. This is why we are so proud of our pupils’ generosity with their time in the service of those in need.
